The current success being enjoyed by Martin Turner includes the worldwide release of a 2CD/1DVD set via Cherry Red Records, called The Beauty of Chaos – Live at the Citadel.  The live album was recorded on the Written in the Stars Tour and features the current line-up of the band.

“This set captures my live band playing my last solo album Written in the Stars in its entirety and a set of the best of Wishbone Ash which I’d personally selected.  We’d been playing this set for quite a few gigs by then, it was all bedded in and every performance was nailing it!  This is another chapter in the story that began in 1970 and I’m still out there playing the music people want to hear. The gig at the Citadel had a great audience and everything came together beautifully. When you get the perfect gig the night you’re recording it’s really special and that’s what we’ve captured here!  I hope everyone will enjoy it!”

Wishbone Ash recently released a limited edition deluxe 30-CD career retrospective boxset, The Vintage Years (1970-1991).   Loaded with rarities, memorabilia, a new interview and a lavish 156-page hardback book, a third of this new collection features previously unheard & unreleased material.

Wishbone Ash was formed by West Country musicians Martin Turner and Steve Upton, who arrived in London in 1969 to embark on their musical journey. Intent on creating a musical sound that was rich in texture and melody, Martin Turner envisaged the band’s innovative harmony-guitar hallmark and guitarists Ted Turner and Andy Powell were recruited via a now legendary Melody Maker advert. The partnership of the original line-up of Wishbone Ash forged a unique musical identity that would produce some of rock music’s best loved works and influencing numerous successful bands, resulting in millions of album sales and concert attendances. Wishbone Ash would become one of the most enduring and best loved British rock acts – its name synonymous with high quality guitar-driven melodic rock music.

Over four decades later, the enduring music of the classic marks of Wishbone Ash continues to delight audiences worldwide through both live performances and a rich legacy of recorded work that continues to be enjoyed by fans old and new. Classic album releases such as Wishbone Ash, Argus, Pilgrimage, There’s the Rub, New England and Live Dates defined the Wishbone Ash sound and have touched the hearts of several generations of music fans. As lead vocalist and key creative force, founding original member Martin Turner was central to the critical and commercial success of Wishbone Ash’s most revered albums, with his passionate vocal delivery, songwriting ability, keen melodic sense and production values being a key ingredient in the definitive Wishbone Ash sound. Martin Turner continues to perform the band’s best loved works with his current line-up, which features guitarists Danny Willson and Misha Nikolic, and drummer Tim Brown.

In recent years Martin Turner has delighted audiences worldwide with his performances of material from the classic periods of Wishbone Ash’s history. Martin’s 2018 touring continues his exploration of the Wishbone Ash catalogue.  The Autumn 2018 tour will feature classic tracks from the extensive Wishbone Ash repertoire, as well as new music that remains true to the original Wishbone Ash style plus, of course, a full performance of Wishbone Ash.

Released in December 1970, the debut Wishbone Ash album contained an eclectic mix of progressive rock, hard-rock, blues, jazz and folk influences with the band’s pioneering twin guitar harmonies resplendent throughout. Unlike many bands who developed an identifiable style across the course of several albums, the still youthful  Wishbone Ash set the blueprint with their first offering. Featuring stage favourites such as “Blind Eye”, “Lady Whiskey” and album-closing tour-de-force “Phoenix”, the album received rave reviews from the music media with legendary broadcaster John Peel proclaiming “I haven’t been so impressed with a relatively new band for a long time. Their music is original, exciting and beautifully played.” The album’s appeal has endured five decades of musical change and remains a firm favourite with fans of the band and the classic rock genre.

It is anticipated that fans will be enthralled by these “vintage album” tours, the likes of which have been so successful for other classic bands.  Further vintage album tours are likely in the future – a genuine last opportunity to hear these much-loved works performed live and in full.

The Beauty of Chaos is available from Amazon ( ) and also digitally on iTunes ( ).

An Evening of Wishbone Ash music… and beyond – MARTIN TURNER 2017 TOUR DATES

An Evening of Wishbone Ash music… and beyond – MARTIN TURNER 2017 TOUR DATES

Martin Turner Band by Manny Manson 3322Martin Turner, founder of the legendary Wishbone Ash, one of Britain’s most enduring and best loved melodic rock acts, announces his 33-date The Beauty of Chaos 2017 UK tour, which will include rare performance of the seminal Wishbone Ash album, ARGUS, in it’s entirety.

It is 45 years since Argus, Wishbone Ash’s third and most popular album was released when it reached No. 2 in the UK album charts and was named Album of the Year by UK music press. Vocalist & bassist Martin Turner, was the main composer, lyricist and creative force behind this critically acclaimed album, which remains one of the most enduring works of the classic rock era.

Martin Turner’s The Beauty of Chaos tour will also feature classic album tracks and stage favourites from the extensive Wishbone Ash repertoire, as well as material from the recent “Written in the Stars” album that remains true to the original Wishbone Ash blueprint.
Three dates on this tour (Bath, Uttoxeter & Hornchurch) will see Martin & his band perform a select series of intimate un-plugged concerts. With its melodic nature, the classic Wishbone Ash material lends itself ideally to the stripped-down acoustic format. All other shows will be performed in the band’s usual electric format.

Turner says: “My band – Danny, Tim and Misha – and I are looking forward to the upcoming tour. As always fans can expect a mix of songs from various albums – further exploration of the extensive Wishbone Ash catalogue and selected cuts from the more recent “Written in the Stars” album. This time around we will also be including full performance of “Argus”. I’m constantly being made aware how this album still resonates with people and holds a special place in their hearts, some 45 years after its release. This I believe is due to the strong melodic content of the music and the universal themes – everyone can relate to the lyrical references to time, space, war, etc. The album marked a creative peak of the original band, with inspired contributions from all. In 2017 I feel my band has a great empathy for the music and the ability to reproduce the album faithfully onstage in a way that is fresh and exciting.”
