Four Tops And Temptations

Bring The Motown Sound

Back To UK Arenas

Motown’s timeless legends The Four Tops and The Temptations have announced a UK tour for October 2016, with special guests Tavares. The three iconic bands will play 7 shows together, with an additional Southend show featuring Four Tops and Temptations only.

This is not the first time The Four Tops and The Temptations have joined forces in the UK. Throughout several co-headlining tours they’ve built a lasting relationship with their British audience, winning them over with their unmissable arena-sized parties.

“Very excited to be coming back to the UK October of 2016” – says The Temptations’ Otis Williams – “the UK audience has always been the best in world! Looking forward to spending time and performing for the greatest fans. See you later!” The Four Tops’ Duke Fakir shares his feelings: “Our UK tour is always our most exciting tour of the year. I and the other Tops are looking forward to our fall visit in our favourite country. Hope to see you all at our concerts with our friends the Temptations and Tavares. WOW I CAN’T WAIT!” Special guests Tavares also welcomed the news enthusiastically: “We are looking forward to the UK tour next October with the Temptations and The Four Tops and can’t wait to perform all of our hits for the UK fans who have always been so supportive throughout our career.”

With young music fans rediscovering the classics and vinyl making a sensational comeback, the celebrated sound of Motown is more alive and popular than ever. Berry Gordy, founder of the Detroit label that made history in the 60s, will bring ‘Motown The Musical” to London from February 2016 and sales are already going strong.

The Four Tops’ groundbreaking sound includes soul, R&B, disco, doo-woop and jazz influences; they strongly contributed to define the Motown sound. Their hits include I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch) and 1966 number one Reach Out (I’ll Be There). The line up for the tour includes original member Duke Fakir plus Ronnie McNeir, Lawrence Payton and Harold ‘Spike’ Bonhart.

The Temptations were the first Motown band to win a Grammy Award in 1969 with Cloud Nine; they won 3 in total, plus the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013, tribute to a career that helped shape Soul and R&B music as we know it. Amongst their classics are My Girl and Papa Was a Rolling Stone. The current line up of the group is Otis Williams, Ron Tyson, Terry Weeks, Larry Braggs and Willie Greene Jr.

Family enterprise Tavares – Cape-Verdean brothers Antone “Chubby”, Feliciano “Butch”, Perry Lee “Tiny” and Ralph – found fame in the 70s with their R&B/funk/soul formula. In 1975 they released Top 40 pop album In The City, with single It Only Takes a minute topping the R&B chart and earning them a support slot with the Jackson 5. Tavares won a Grammy for their work on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. They will bring to the arena more golden hits including More Than A Woman, Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel and Don’t Take Away The Music.
